Maureen Gildersleeve’s yogic journey began 15 years ago practicing Iyengar yoga in a Maryland library. Through her experiences in traveling solo and the search for a lifestyle beyond the status quo, Maureen came to learn that the universe can provide all that one needs. This perspective gave her the confidence and power to manifest a life doing what she’s feels the most passionate about…yoga, bodywork, and conscious business practices. The platform of teaching yoga and chanting has given her a way to express herself as an artist.
Maureen’s teaching style consists of well-balanced, intelligent sequences that leave her students feeling more connected to a strong, capable and grounded self. Her teaching style has been inspired by her study and practice of many different yoga styles such as, Restorative, Power, Yin yoga, Anusara with John Friend, Vinyasa yoga with Janet Stone, and Tantric philosophy with Christopher “Hareesh” Wallis. She has taught over 1000 hours of yoga and has completed over 750 hours of accredited massage and anatomy trainings. She gains additional insight by spending time with her husband and children, friends, nature, music and learning something new.
Prior to moving to Maui and opening Makawao Yoga, Maureen co-founded a successful yoga studio in northern California. During her time there she took part in teaching, developing, and organizing yoga teacher teaching programs and several other health and wellness courses.
Maureen has developed the 200-hr. M.Y. Advanced Studies and Yoga Teacher Training Program which is currently offered twice a year in Maui, Hawaii.
Maureen is a fun-loving practitioner of yoga and her creative spirit is apparent when she teaches. She invites you to tap into the unlimited benefits that this path has to offer! Join her Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9:15am!
